An update on our works at Olive Lane, Waverley
This newsletter is to provide you with updates on progress, traffic management and any potential disruption surrounding the Olive Lane development at Waverley, Rotherham, in the upcoming weeks.

Completed works

Completed works on site thus far include bulk earthworks to remodel the site, excavation works for utility companies' upcoming works, the installation of drainage - including the foul water diversion -, and the construction of all roads to binder level.
Around site, three sub stations have been erected up to roof level which, upon completion, will allow power to be provided for future users on the development. We are looking forward to the installation of roofs on these sub stations, which is scheduled to take place in the beginning of October.
The retaining wall to the top of site is complete, and we have also finished construction of the new entrance to AMRC Training Centre.
Upcoming works

We are currently working on the installation of kerbing and pedestrian crossing points to the site entrance on Stephenson Way, which is being undertaken under two-way traffic management. Once complete, we will then undertake final surfacing along Stephenson Way. This is scheduled to occur week commencing Monday 19th September.
Please note the section of Stephenson Way adjacent to the site will be closed during this week to facilitate the works (further details below). We are also looking forward to the installation of utility mains, the installation of cables to the sub stations, the completion of footpaths around the site (including sub-base and surfacing works), and the completion of the sub stations.

We are hopeful that all but the most minute works on this site will be complete by the end of September.
Traffic Management

Currently: There is currently a two-way system in place to manage traffic outside the main site entrance on Stephenson Waybetween Cressbrook Road and Bradfield Way to allow for preparation works for the final surfacing (diagram below).
This two-way system will then move down Stephenson Way between Bradfield Way and Lescar Road as we undertake works to the second entrance of the development (diagram below).
From 19th September: A road closure will be in place along Stephenson Way from Cressbrook Road to Lescar Road from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd September to facilitate final surfacing works.

Please follow the diversion signs that will be in place during this time.

This closure was originally planned to include the entrance of AMRC Training Centre (original diagram below); however, we have worked with the college to keep the entrance open to assist with their initiation week. Surfacing works outside the college will now take place over the weekend of Saturday 24th September.
Other notices

We have experienced several setbacks throughout the duration of the project which have led to us being on site longer than anticipated. These delays in receiving licenses from the local authorities which would enable us to undertake drainage and road works, shortages in materials and labour which is being experienced across the construction industry in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, and complications with planning stipulations which resulted in some works on site being undertaken to bespoke specifications.

We at Howard Civil Engineering would like to thank you for the continued understanding and patience demonstrated throughout the duration of these works. From the outset we have endeavoured to keep disruption to a minimum and will continue to do so until our work on the project comes to an end.

Finally, we would like to sincerely apologise to any residents, organisations and businesses who were affected by the power outage on 23rd August. This was due to an accidental strike on an electric cable and every effort was made to restore power as soon as possible.
