Penny Pot Lane Newsletter 11

29 July 2020

Newsletter 11  First published Wednesday 29th July.

Welcome to newsletter number 11 providing you with information regarding the roadworks to Penny Pot Lane for Persimmon Homes.

Progress, the past two weeks

We are pleased to say that service diversions are now approaching completion. This allows us to continue with the progression of the footpaths and kerbs within this area which will form the new slip road and bellmouth to Persimmon Homes' King Edwin Park development.

Please follow the pedestrian signage and walkways in place, and pass with care.

The next two weeks

On Friday 31st July, we will be preparing to commence further roadworks to accommodate additional pipework into the site entrance of King Edwin Park. The road closures for this work will commence on Monday 3rd August and is estimated to take two to three weeks. We are currently on course to complete these works by Saturday 29th August.

Please take a look at the traffic management plans below for more information on how these road closures may affect your journey.

All households close to the scheme should be in receipt of a letter, posted Monday 13th July, outlining traffic management plans which will be in place throughout August (depicted above).

Temporary traffic signals at the King Edwin Park entrance on Penny Pot Lane remain in operation and will be in place until our road closure commences on 3rd August. These lights are manually operated between 7am – 7pm.

Phase 1 of the road closure includes the stretch of road from King Edwin Park's site entrance to Young's Drive and will commence Monday 3rd August for two-three weeks. Access to Young's Drive and Ethelburga will be from the east of Penny Pot Lane, and access to King Edwin Park will be from the west.

Phase 2 of the road closure encompasses the area from Jubilee Roundabout to King Edwin Park's site entrance. All access to and from Ethelburga will be from the west and access to King Edwin park will be from the east, with two-way control traffic lights in place at the site entrance. We anticipate these works will last approximately two days, and we hope to commence these works either on Monday 17th August or Monday 24th August.

Phase 3 of the road closure will lead from the corner of Penny Pot Lane up to Ethelburga and will last approximately one-two days. We are hoping to commence these works on either Monday 24th August or Monday 31st August. Please note access to King Edwin Park, Young's Drive and Ethelburga will be from the west of Penny Pot Lane.

Phase 4 of the road closure stretches from the entrance of Ethelburga to the entrance of Young's Drive, both of which will be controlled using three-way lights. Access to and from Ethelburga will be from the east, and access to and from Young's Drive will be from the west.

Rest assured that pedestrian and cycle access through this area will remain open at all times.

We would also like to politely remind everyone that the speed limit within the traffic scheme is 30mph.

A small number of cars passing our work area have been exceeding the speed limit. This is dangerous for our team on site and members of the public within the vicinity. Your compliance with the speed limit is greatly appreciated.
