Howard Civil Engineering has been awarded an enabling works package on the highly anticipated York Railway Station gateway improvement scheme.
The City of York Council scheme aims to encourage more people to walk, cycle and use public transport to access the station, in addition to creating a more welcoming and inclusive environment around the front of the railway station for the public.
In conjunction with the city-centre Hudson Quarter redevelopment, for which Howard Civil Engineering also delivered three reinforced concrete frames, it is hoped the £25m scheme will attract investment and jobs to the city.
This project will be delivered in partnership by City of York Council, Network Rail, LNER and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.
