Greengates Junction Newsletter No 4

04 September 2020

Newsletter No 4. Week Commencing Monday 7th September. First published Friday 4th September 2020

This newsletter is to provide you with an update on the Greengates Junction Improvement works

Progress, the past two weeks

Drainage works to the P-Loop area.

We have made significant progress to the drainage works in the P-Loop area, with attenuation tanks installed and manholes now formed. Masonry works to build the new stonework retaining walls in the P-Loop section and along New Line have also commenced, reusing the reclaimed stone which was saved from our previous works to the area.

Masonry work in the P-Loop area.

Passers-by will notice significant differences along New Line as we have removed signage and street lighting from the arm of the junction adjacent to the war memorial and have undertaken reduce level digging to the stretch opposite the P-Loop area.

Changes along New Line.

Works to form the new entrance to Farmfoods has continued. We have initiated exploratory works to locate existing services and are making progress with the installation of kerbs and drainage ahead of tarmacking.

Works to the new Farmfoods entrance are progressing well.

The next two weeks

We will be continuing drainage and masonry works to the P-Loop area.

Over the next two weeks, we will be continuing the above works to the P-Loop area in addition to re-aligning the existing ditch and installing headwalls at the outlets of the drainage system.

We will continue works to form the new Farmfoods entrance over the next two weeks. These works will include some service diversion and adjustment works undertaken by the utility companies which will then allow us to complete surfacing and road markings.

Existing works along New Line will also continue, including building new boundary walls.

Traffic Management

Please note traffic management measures will remain in place on Harrogate from Room 907 up to the arm of the junction. The inner lane will remain to provide pedestrians with a temporary walkway and to give us a safe working area for operatives to form the bell mouth of the new Farmfoods entrance. This lane opens up ahead of the traffic lights, meaning vehicles are still able to turn left with ease.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and patience as we undertake these necessary works to make Greengates a safer place.
