Below is a statement from Ben, a Quantity Surveying graduate who has experienced the Howard Civil Engineering Graduate training scheme first hand:
'I started with Howard Civil Engineering as a Graduate Quantity Surveyor in June 2020 after completing my degree in Quantity Surveying from Leeds Beckett University. I had minimal practical experience in the field previously before Howard Civil Engineering took me on but I was quickly able to learn the aspects of the role first-hand with great help from both my managers and colleagues. I now get involved with all types of work we carry out in the commercial team, including managing my own sites. My progression here has actually surpassed the progression of my classmates who haven’t had the opportunities to manage their own projects despite working for a company for a longer period of time.' In terms of furthering my education, I will be looking to become a chartered surveyor with RICS in the coming years with the help and encouragement from the Howard Civil Engineering team.'
