Health & Safety

Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental issues form the key foundations of our operations. We consistently operate dedicated systems on our projects to ensure these key beliefs are actioned and implemented from the start.

We are proud to say that Howard Civil Engineering have never had an enforcement of any kind with the HSE.

Within Howard Civil Engineering, we place a great emphasis on the health, safety and welfare of our employees, subcontractors and all others who may be affected by our work activities. To this end, a comprehensive Health and Safety policy has been developed in accordance with OHSAS 18001.

Our QMS is managed by our internal Health and Safety Manager Andrew Rafton and, when required, is made available to others working for the HCE. The overall QMS has been prepared to illustrate how we propose to manage health, safety and welfare and to meet the requirements of current legislation, Codes of Practice and Safety Guidance documents whilst undertaking their work activities. Within these procedures a great deal of emphasis is placed on planning the implementation of safe systems of work and the training of our workforce.

Each employee is individually assessed to establish their specific training requirements, and each employee will have a specific training programme to meet their needs. As a bare minimum, all operatives are CSCS registered and all supervisors are 5-day SMSTS qualified.

Our commitment is supported by several accreditations we have received which form the basis for how our operations are undertaken. Howard Civil Engineering are proud to have achieved the following accreditations:
