KEY RESPONSIBILITY
SUSTAINABILITY
Howard Civil Engineering is committed to a responsible and progressive approach to environmental sustainability.
OVERVIEW
COMMITTED TO OUR
PLANET
We pride ourselves on our determination to reduce the environmental impact of our work, and we continually invest in new technologies and monitoring systems with the aim of ensuring our future operations are kinder to the planet.
As a minimum, we aim to responsibly source our materials, implement comprehensive waste management policies (in line with WRAP protocol), in addition to monitoring and controlling noise levels on specific sites. We operate a comprehensive environmental management system that is accredited to ISO 14001:2004 standards.

OUR EFFORTS EXTEND ACROSS THE NORTH
Our comprehensive system of reusing materials helps us minimise the amount of waste produced, and anything that cannot be reused is always separated and recycled where possible.
In 2022, we welcomed 19 new NRMM stage 5 engine excavators to our fleet, which aimed to reduce the emission of Oxides of Nitrogen by a whopping 90%. We also utilise fuel made from hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) where possible.
In 2023, we kick-started the year off by installing solar panels at our head office, which have since saved the CO2 equivalent of 33 trees. Additionally, all waste generated here is recycled or diverted from landfill.
In 2024, our efforts only gained momentum. In six months, we offset nearly 200,000 litres of fuel, as well as recycling 96% of our construction and excavation waste. To learn more, visit our World Environment Day blog by clicking here.
