We’re continuing our festive giving with The Hut York, a charity that – in their words – is “bringing creativity and purpose to the lives of adults with their mental health journeys, and/or learning disabilities”.
The organisation’s vital work brings a sense of community to people who may struggle to find it on their own: their website details how they help those who use the service with meaningful workshops, sessions, and activities that are designed by members of The Hut’s team. They also work to coach, guide and support when it comes to daily life skills; problem solving, critical and creative thinking, effective communication, building healthy relationships, and coping with everyday tasks.
Our sustainability manager Sophie Henderson paid a visit to The Hut, where she took part in one of their well-being sessions:
“It was amazing to see the interaction and enthusiasm from The Hut’s members – thank you for allowing me to be a part of this!”
We donated £500 to The Hut, whose website details a number of vital causes that donations can help support. For example, their creative space – The Studio – is in need of a new roof to ensure the building remains safe and accessible to its members. Donations are also used to support members who are struggling financially to attend The Hut’s various activity sessions, and £64 is enough to fund an entire week of these for a person.
