Merry Christmas from everyone at Howard Civil Engineering!
This interim newsletter is to inform you of our working hours over the festive period and also to thank you for your continued patience and understanding throughout what has been a very difficult year for most.
Work to improve Greengates junction will be paused from 17:00 on Thursday 23rd December 2020 until 8:00am on Tuesday 4th January 2022 as our operatives and office staff take a well-deserved break over the Christmas period.
Traffic management measures will remain in place at Greengates junction throughout this period. Please plan your journey accordingly if you are passing through the junction.
We will also be aiming to minimise the amount of pedestrian barrier required on site during the shutdown, re-opening footways where we can.
We would like to thank members of the local community members who have been respectful of the traffic management measures in place and are remaining patient and understanding of why these measures are necessary.
Please note the during this Christmas period (24th December - 3rd Jan) we continue to monitor traffic management measures in place at the junction. Should you notice an emergency during this period, please call the RTS 24/7 call out number on 01724 848 246.

Spreading Christmas cheer throughout Greengates
Throughout December, Howard Civil Engineering is spreading festive cheer by donating £5,000 to a variety of charities and community groups across Yorkshire! We have chosen 12 different causes to help this festive period and we will be documenting these throughout the month using the hashtag #12DaysOfHCE.
Six of these 12 days will directly benefit Greengates locals and communities in the wider Bradford area!
St John's Community Church
For the first day of #12DaysOfHCE, we supported St John’s Community Church in Greengates, Bradford.
The church plays an integral role in the local Greengates community, providing support and guidance for many locals including the vulnerable and the elderly.
This £250 donation will help the church to renovate their hall and transform it into a thriving community hub for local residents to hire for events, parties, and community group get-togethers.
Friends of Greengates
For the second day of #12DaysOfHCE, we presented Friends of Greengates with a £300 cheque to help them fund community activities and events for Greengates locals.
We are very proud to have such a positive relationship with Friends of Greengates, and we would like to wish every volunteer a very Merry Christmas!
Mind in Bradford
Earlier this year, Howard Civil Engineering raised over £2,100 for Mind in Bradford by taking part in the Tough Mudder 5K.
We made the decision to continue our support of Mind in Bradford this Christmas by sponsoring a bauble on their Christmas tree! This sponsorship could fund 12 early intervention therapeutic sessions for people struggling with poor mental health in Bradford.
Bradford Food Bank
Food banks such as Bradford Food Bank have unfortunately become a lifeline for many of our local communities, so we thought it only fitting to ensure we endeavour to support those most vulnerable in Bradford this Christmas time.
In addition to a monetary donation to help fund Christmas hampers, Howard Civil Engineering has also donated toys and toiletry sets to the food bank’s grotto! Food bank users can visit the food bank, select toys or toiletry sets for their children, and then wrap them before taking them home to give to their loved ones.
Greengates Primary Academy and Calverley CE Primary School
Ho-ho-Howard Civil Engineering! For Day 9 of #12DaysOfHCE🎄 Santa Claus paid a visit to primary school pupils in Bradford this Christmas and asked them for a very special favour – to scatter eco-friendly, biodegradable, and RSPCA-approved reindeer food in their gardens on Christmas Eve to help his reindeer find their homes and keep them fit and flying!
Pulse Radio 1's Cash for Kids
And finally, for Day 11 of #12DaysOfHCE 🎄 we supported Pulse 1 Radio's Cash for Kids Mission Christmas appeal which will distribute presents to 17,000 children across West Yorkshire. This means that Greengates locals may receive a gift that was donated by Howard Civil Engineering!
