Newsletter No 23. Week Commencing Monday 14th June. First published Friday 11th June 2021.
This newsletter is to provide you with an update on the Greengates Junction Improvement works.
Please note traffic management measures remain in place at Greengates junction to enable us to work on all four arms of the junction. Please plan your journey accordingly if you are passing through the junction.
Additionally, we are aware that a small number of road users are making dangerous manoeuvres around the traffic management measures which jeopardise the safety of others. Should you witness any dangerous or illegal manoeuvres, please report these directly to West Yorkshire Police.
**As the COVID-19 restrictions in place across the country gradually ease, we are expecting to see an increase in the number of vehicles passing through the junction. We kindly ask road users and pedestrians to continue practicing social distancing around the site and being considerate of other drivers when passing the temporary traffic management measures.**
Howard Civil Engineering and Bradford Council would like to thank those who are driving safely through the junction. Your continued patience and understanding as we undertake improvement works are greatly appreciated.
Progress, the past two weeks
Over the past two weeks, we have completed the installation of the rainwater attenuation system on New Line opposite Asda and the P-Loop area.
We have also continued to install ducting in the road crossings and footpaths to further the diversion of services.
On New Line, widening works are ongoing in the area opposite Asda and along the stretch of road from the corner of Farmfoods down to Sunnyside Day nursery.
We have also commenced the diversion of high and low voltage cables on Harrogate Road. Please note this work requires a pedestrian diversion and the temporary suspension of the bus stop outside Greengates Primary School.
The next two weeks
Over the next two weeks, will be working to install road gullies on New Line and connect them to the newly laid rainwater attenuation system. We will also place kerbs, ducting, tactile paving and signage in this area - leading down to Costa -,which will form the new footpath.
Further down New Line, outside New Line Retail Park and Sunnyside Day Nursery, road widening operations will continue. We are looking forward to commencing the reconstruction of the boundary walls once utility contractors have successfully diverted the services which lie along this area.
The installation of ducting in the road crossings to facilitate service diversions will also continue over the next two weeks, and we are hoping to complete works outside Greengates Primary School within this time frame.
Roads have been reduced to two lanes in all directions to enable us to progress with ongoing junction widening works. We anticipate that these traffic management measures will be in place for the foreseeable future. Please allow extra time for travel when passing through the junction.
Howard Civil Engineering have worked alongside Bradford Council to ascertain the most efficient traffic management measures to enable us to complete the junction improvement works with the highest consideration for safety of our operatives, road users and pedestrians. We apologise in advance for any disruption and delays which you may encounter as a result of these works and thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
