Welcome to the Gateway 36 e-newsletter. Each month, these e-newsletters will provide you with updates on progress, traffic management and any potential disruption surrounding the Gateway 36 development in Rockingham. Please note that due to delays on behalf of Yorkshire Water, works will be ongoing until autumn 2021.
Progress, the past four weeks
Following a change in traffic management on the new roundabout on Dearne Valley Parkway, we have advanced works to form the central area of the roundabout which will provide access into the third phase of the Gateway 36 development.
In this central section, we have punctured the existing tarmac from the old dual carriageway for drainage purposes and upfilled the area with general fill (pictured above).
Works to prepare for kerbing have continued, such as saw-cutting and the placement of sub-base stone.
The next four weeks
Work to form the new roundabout into phase 3 of the development will continue over the next month and will include kerbing and service installation in addition to preparation for the final wearing course tarmac to be laid. From mid-October, we will be working Saturday and Sunday nights as we place tarmac surfacing on the new roundabout. These time slots have been chosen in order to minimise disruption on Dearne Valley Parkway for daytime commuters. Please follow the diversion signs on display whilst these works are being undertaken. The current traffic management layout will remain in place throughout the next four weeks. Vehicles will be diverted onto the new section of roundabout to allow us to complete our works along Dearne Valley Parkway. Please follow the signs and speed limits in place. Should you experience or witness an out-of-hours emergency regarding the traffic management measures in place, please call RTS on 01724 848 246. All works are scheduled to be complete for autumn 2021.
