RUTH GORSE ACADEMY

BACKGROUND

Howard Civil Engineering’s package for what was the largest free school in the country is now complete. Pupils of Ruth Gorse Academy started their new 2016/17 academic year in the completed new building. The Government-funded free school is located on previously derelict land between Black Bull Street and the New Dock development, close to the Royal Armouries. It has capacity for 1,580 pupils and 150 staff, and has been instrumental in driving the regeneration of the south of the city centre.

Howard Civil Engineering, working for BAM Construction, carried out the substructure and superstructure reinforce concrete works together with the foul and surface water drainage and external works package.
