Background

This secondary school is sited on the existing campus is part of the government’s commitment to refurbishing and re-building all new high schools throughout the country through the BSF program.

This entailed a £47m development of the campus which was awarded to Educo through a negotiated tender process. Due to a successful historical partnership with Educo, Howard Civil Engineering was awarded the contract for all groundworks and infrastructure including hard landscaping.

  • Soil strip, major cut, fill and re-engineering (70,000m³)
  • 278 works traffic management
  • Construction of all new highways and car parks including macadam
  • Construction of all reinforced concrete structures including retaining walls over 5m high
  • Formation of sports pitches including hockey, tennis, football and rugby to Sport England standards
  • Extensive paths and feature paving
  • Comprehensive drainage network including large diameter storage tanks (6,000m³)
  • Petrol interceptors and many kilometres of ducting and trenching to facilitate services
