Aflex Hose are manufacturers of world-leading PTFE-lined flexible hoses for the pharmaceutical, biotechnologies, food and beverage, chemical and automotive industries. This new 17,000m² factory provides the company with new extrusion lines and processing equipment, increasing production by 70% and employing 280 staff.

Replacing a prominent 1960s office building in the centre of York overlooking the historic city walls, Hudson Quarter provides a combined residential, retail and office development.

Heavy rain and high river levels have caused this river wall to collapse on multiple occasions. The wall forms part of the Arla Dairy boundary, protecting the dairy site from flooding from the very highest river levels.

We commenced work at the new Foss Park Hospital in September 2018 and completed the project in March 2020.

Persimmon Homes’ roof tile factory provides the tiles for their standard range of homes and sits alongside their brick factory, a scheme which was also completed by Howard Civil Engineering.

Logic Leeds is the largest ever warehouse development in Leeds (361,000ft² distribution unit) and Plot M was completed in January 2019. The main contractor was Derbyshire-based Bowmer + Kirkland.

Kirkstall Road is a development of PRS (Private Rental Sector) acccomodation incorporarting stylish 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments close to Leeds city centre. This area of the city is rapidly changing and considering its close proximity to the centre, it is becoming a very popular area of Leeds. Howard Civil Engineering were employed by our new client, Hollycroft Construction to deliver the reinforced concrete frame.

During 2017/2018, a new retail park was constructed off the A6102 (Bochum Parkway) south of Sheffield city centre on the site of the old Norton College. The site was developed by St James Securities Limited and GMI Construction were the principal contractor for the scheme.

Howard Civil Engineering was awarded this contract by Barratt Developments to construct a new roundabout centered on the existing A19/A163 Market Weighton junction, Barlby, north of Selby.

Howard Civil Engineering was pleased to support Wates Group in the delivery of the groundworks and reinforced concrete frame packages on this prestigious site.

This project was part of a major mixed-use new-build development. The second phase comprised two blocks of student accomodation sitting on the south edge of a new public square formed from the new stopped up Boston Street and provides commercial, restaurant and business premises as well as 182 student rooms and a basement car park.

Now complete, Victoria Gate houses a flagship 21,000m² John Lewis store alongside an elegantly designed two-street arcade with 30 stores, restaurants, cafes, and a casino. A multi-storey car park also provides spaces for up to 800 cars.

Howard Civil Engineering commenced work on this site in December 2016 after being awarded a contract to undertake the foundations and ground floor slab, stair and lift core, drainage and hard landscaping and street furniture. The last pour to the auditorium floor in July 2017 marked the end of the first phase of our works.

Victoria Mills was the second of a series of planned housing developments for Erris Homes.

The A1 Leeming to Barton upgrade replaced the existing dual carriageway with a new three lane motorway. It also included the provision of a new local access road alongside the new motorway, a new grade separated junction at Catterick, and an improved junction at Scotch Corner to provide access to the strategic road network.

Opening in 1921, The Futurist theatre was originally built as a cinema before the stage was extended in the late 1950s. Since then, the theatre hosted an array of famous artists, including The Beatles, before closing in 2014. The demolition works included the stabilisation of the cliff behind the building.

Howard Civil Engineering is proud to have completed works in this new £100m development which is now home to the new TK Maxx distribution facility, providing more than 1.2m sq ft of accommodation. The building was completed in 2017 and supports up to 1,800 jobs.

Harlow Hill Grange is development of two, three and four bedroom homes situated within walking distance of Harrogate town centre.

As part of the ongoing expansion of Monks Cross Retail Development, Howard Civil Engineering successfully supported Caddick Construction in the £40m development of Vangarde Shopping Centre.

University Centre Rotherham’s new campus has brought a wealth of education and training opportunities to the region, building upon learning provider’s existing range of degrees, higher-level courses and professional training.

Work is now complete on our third project for Persimmon Homes. The new brick factory is a flagship project for the group on a 14.76 acre site in Harworth. At full capacity, the facility produces circa 80 million brick per annum.

During the summer of 2016 this former golf course, situated in a South Durham loop of the River Wear and overlooked by Auckland Castle, became Eleven Arches – the most ambitious outdoor theatre construction project ever seen in County Durham.

Port Salford is a freight terminal on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal in Barton-upon-Irwell in the City of Salford, Greater Manchester.

Howard Civil Engineering delivered the groundworks and elevated concrete slab for a new 97 luxury aparthotels in York. The apartments provide visitors with the experience of comfort of a boutique hotel with the convenience of a serviced apartment. The development is located on a unique waterfront location on the famous River Ouse in York.

Marshall Construction commenced works to a new 4* hotel in the centre of Manchester in early 2017.

This first phase of this huge £100m redevelopment of Liverpool Shopping Park, formerly Edge Lane Retail Park, saw the opening of 41 new shops and created 3,000 jobs after its re-opening in 2017. The site’s owner, The Derwent Group, appointed contractors Caddick Construction to build the shopping park.

In September 2016 Howard Civil Engineering returned to the University of York, this time to support Interserve in their £17m contract to design and build a three-storey development at Campus East. It was our fifth visit to the campus having previously worked with BAM, VINCI Construction and Sir Robert McAlpine on the site.

Persimmon Homes’ development in Wilberfoss comprised a selection of two, three and four bedroom homes. This was our first project for Persimmon Homes, installing the sewers and main carriageways for this new development of 44 plots.

The Arla Mega Dairy in Aylesbury represents Howard Civil Engineering’s largest contract to date. The £150m project provided one billion litres of dairy in its first year and produced the worlds first zero-carbon milk. The site, which covers 70 acres, now provides over 700 production, distribution and administration posts, processing milk from over 900 farmers.

Howard Civil Engineering’s package for what was the largest free school in the country is now complete. Pupils of Ruth Gorse Academy started their new 2016/17 academic year in the completed new building.

Back in July 2015, BAM Construction were awarded a £9.3 million project to create the second University Technical College in Sheffield (UTC2).

Following extensive negotiation and value engineering sessions, Howard Civil Engineering was awarded the groundworks and structures package for the £20m project to build The Phoenix Partnership’s new head office in Horsforth, Leeds.

The new dealership included the showrooms, offices, workshops, plant rooms, canteens, a new site entrance and installation of infrastructure works that include services, drainage, main estate roads and landscaping.

In March 2015, BAM Construction was appointed by Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to deliver a £20m three-storey ward block development at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

The single building, which has created a facility for 1,200 pupils aged 2 to 16 and features a four-storey secondary school, a two-storey primary school and a central event hub, opened to school children in September 2015.

In 2012, Interserve secured the £100m PFI agreement to build two police stations in Leeds and a state-of-the-art training facility at Carr Gate, Wakefield. Howard Civil Engineering was successful in tendering for the training operation facility at Carr Gate which represented the largest of the three projects.

Due to the merger of Leeds Grammar School with Leeds Girls High, it was decided to significantly extend the existing Leeds Grammar School site in Alwoodley to facilitate both boys and girls.

This secondary school is sited on the existing campus is part of the government’s commitment to refurbishing and re-building all new high schools throughout the country through the BSF program.

To maintain York’s high rank status as one of the top universities in the world, the University authority decided to upgrade and expand their facilities to meet the national higher education agenda and help drive the regional and local economy.
