Traffic is now flowing unhindered around this new roundabout on the A19 near Selby.

The roundabout, which replaces the notoriously dangerous A19/A163/York Road staggered junction, was built as a planning condition for the adjacent Barratt Homes residential development.

It was built to programme, following Howard Civil Engineering’s phasing drawings which were presented to stakeholders at the commencement of the scheme.

In conjunction with the work our highly successful community liaision programme has been praised by local Councillors and residents of the surrounding villages. A twice monthly electronic newsletter was received by over 250 residents and businesses and further shared over social media, enabling anyone using the A19 to plan their journeys depending on the anticipated traffic management sequence for that phase.

‘Morning, you are currently undertaking some work on the A19 near selby to build a roundabout I’m sure you get this a lot but I just want to send some recognition to the project manager on this work, absolute minimal disruption and very well organised work teams, well done :)’

‘Your newsletter re the Barlby reconstruction has been excellent and very helpful. Thank you for your input’.

‘I would like to congratulate your workforce on this project.
I travel this section of the A 19 regularly and the way the construction of the roundabout has been managed has been with very little upheaval to the driver.
So well done on a very neat and tidy operation.
Here I am, a member of the public not complaining about roadworks Can’t be bad !
Thank you for your efforts’

Work on this huge £100m redevelopment of Edge Lane Retail Park which will see the opening of 41 new shops and create 3,000 jobs commenced earlier this summer. The site’s owner, The Derwent Group, has appointed contractors Caddick Construction to build the shopping park.

When complete the shopping and leisure development, occupying three quarters of a mile of frontage onto Edge Lane, will be known as Liverpool Shopping Park and have parking for 1500 cars.

The ‘Western Quarter’ forms the first phase of the development and where Howard Civil Engineering will commence with a ground works package for Caddick Construction in December.

Back in December 2015 Hull City Council announced the appointment of BAM Construction to build a new, state-of-the-art music, events and conference centre in the city.

Leading construction company, BAM Construction Limited, was awarded the contract following a competitive tendering exercise, having demonstrated that it offered the best value in terms of quality and price.

The company, whose previous music venues included the First Direct Arena in Leeds began work immediately on Stage 1 of the project involving preliminary, pre-construction services.

Now on site, the groundworks have commenced. Howard Civil Engineering have been contracted to undertake the foundations and ground floor slab, stair and lift core, drainage and hard landscaping and street furniture. A contract vlaue of £2.5 million.

The ‘Piazza Learning Centre’ will house teaching facilities and learning spaces, as part of a £27 million scheme on the campus. The project, Interserve’s second with the University of York, will feature 36 flexible learning spaces, including two laboratories, a 350-seat auditorium, a 100-seat lecture theatre, a 300-seat restaurant, as well as staff areas and offices spread across 6,800 m2.

Howard Civil Engineering have been awarded a contract by Barratt Homes to construct a new roundabout on the A19/A163 Junction in Barlby, nr Selby. The works will commence in September for a period of 23 weeks.

A series of newsletters will be published to keep interested parties informed about the works. The newsletters will be published every fortnight and will provide information about the on-going works and highlight periods of potential traffic disruption in order that people affected by the works can plan their daily journeys.

For those in residence in the area, or a daily user of the A19, please be aware that in order for us to carry out the works, to maintain safety for both the general public and our workforce, temporary traffic lights will be used for periods during the works. The use of temporary traffic lights will be limited to outside of peak traffic hours. Whilst we try to minimize the disruption to the traffic, some disruption should be expected.

To complete the final roundabout surfacing and road marking works we will require to completely close the A19/A163 junction for a few nights in February 2017. A clearly signposted traffic diversion will be put in place. More details will be published ahead of time but signing up below to the newsletter will make sure that you are fully informed.

Work is well under way on our third project this year for Persimmon Homes. This time for their new brick factory; a flagship project for the group on a 14.76 acre site in Harworth, South Yorkshire.

On completion the brickworks will produce up to 88 million bricks per annum to supply Persimmon Homes across the country.

Our package of works contains the Specialist Machine Foundations, foundations and slabs for the various portal frame buildings, the roads and sewers including off site connections and the external yards.

With a tight programme to meet the installation dates of the German engineered equipment and tight tolerances on the foundations, our site team will be kept on their toes.

The works are expected to take approximately 6 months.
