St James Retail Park - Bochum Parkway

Bochum Parkway Newsletter 6

28 July 2017

Newsletter No 6. Week commencing Monday 31st July. Weeks 10 and 11

This is the 6th edition of the newsletter that will keep you up to date with the progress of the road works on Bochum Parkway.
During the last 2 weeks we have continued our work to form the new site entrance. Tarmac has now been laid to the carriageway and footpaths of the new retail park entrance.
At the western entrance to Norton Lane adjacent to Meadowhead Roundabout we have closed the pedestrian crossing and are in the process of widening the carriageway on this shoulder.
New carriageway construction in the middle of the roundabout has continued all this week with the installation of new drainage connections and drainage kerbs.
We have commenced work in the central reservation opposite the site entrance with the laying of ducts for the future signalised junction.
Lane closures to Bochum Parkway have been in operation during the day all this past week. After the initial build up of traffic on the first day of the daily lane closures, traffic congestion appears to have calmed down again.

The next 2 weeks

Next week Northern Powergrid will complete power cable diversions which will allow us to redirect pedestrian back onto the newly laid footpath whilst we excavate for the new filter lane into the new site entrance. The new footway will be indicated by signage and safety barriers.

Temporary Traffic Management likely to impact traffic

WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURES ON BOCHUM PARKWAY
Lane closures will be in place during weekdays from 9am to 4.30pm. The affected roads will remain open in all directions. This is to enable works adjacent to the live carriageway to be carried out safely. This is likely to impact the traffic using Bochum Parkway and the surrounding areas. Please allow extra time for your journeys through the area or seek alternative routes.

CLOSURE OF THE PEDESTRIAN CROSSING ADJACENT TO MEADOWHEAD ROUNDABOUT FROM THE START OF THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
The pedestrian crossing will remain closed. Pedestrians wishing to cross the road at this point are directed to the next traffic signal crossing opposite Dyche Lane. See below.

Closure of the western access to Norton Lane off Bochum Parkway.
This access will remain closed full time for the next few months. Vehicular access to Norton Lane can by made by using the eastern Norton Lane access off Bochum Parkway. We appreciate that this will cause some inconvenience to those living on Norton Lane.

Sunday lane closures on Meadowhead Roundabout and the approaches to Meadowhead Roundabout
On Sunday 6th August there will be lane closures in place in the vicinity of the roundabout. This is to enable works adjacent to the live carriageway to be carried out safely. This is likely to impact the traffic using Bochum Parkway and the surrounding areas.

Safety for children and the wider public

We acknowledge that construction sites can be attractive places for children.
Please be assured that once underway, the different areas of works will be securely fenced at all times to ensure the safety of the public. Deep excavations within our works, for drainage for example, will have further fencing erected around them.

Please be aware of slow moving plant and wagons making deliveries and accessing different areas of the site from the live carriageway.

Please be mindful of the speed limit of 40 mph when driving through the works.
