St James Retail Park - Bochum Parkway

Bochum Parkway Newsletter 12

20 October 2017

Newsletter No 12. Week commencing Monday 23rd October. Weeks 22 and 23.

This is the 12th edition of the newsletter that will keep you up to date with the progress of the road works on Bochum Parkway.

Work has continued to the filter lanes in the central reservations these past 2 weeks; both the filter lane opposite the retail park entrance and the filter lanes adjacent to Meadowhead Roundabout. Works to the filter lanes have been delayed slightly delayed due to being unable to relocate the street lighting columns at this time.

We have also been preparing the footpaths ready for another visit by our surfacing contractor next week.

Last Sunday, while footfall to Dyche Lane was low, we commenced installing ducts for the new traffic loops down Dyche Lane footpath, behind the bus stop. The new traffic loops will help to maximise the efficiency of the traffic signals. We also carried out some pipe crossing across Bochum Parkway.

Lane closures to Bochum Parkway have been in operation every day to provide safe areas of work for our operatives as they work alongside the live carriageway.

The next 2 weeks

Dyche Lane
Ducts will continue to be laid within the footpath behind the bus stop during the next 2 Sundays.
Retail Park entrance
The pedestrian barrier will be installed. The final surfacing to the footpaths and traffic islands will make this whole area look more complete.
Central reservation opposite the site entrance
Works to provide the turning lane into the new site entrance will continue with the completion of the kerbs.
Central reservation at Meadowhead Roundabout
Works to provide the fourth lane approaching the roundabout will continue.
Footpath adjacent to the Audi garage
Traffic loop ducting will be laid along this footpath. A large foundation for a new sign will also be installed. The footpath will remain open to pedestrians at all times.

Temporary Traffic Management likely to impact traffic

Weekday lane closures on Bochum Parkway
Lane closures will be in place during weekdays from 9.30am to 4.00pm. The affected roads will remain open in all directions. This is to enable works adjacent to the live carriageway to be carried out safely. This is likely to impact the traffic using Bochum Parkway and the surrounding areas. Please allow extra time for your journeys through the area or seek alternative routes.
Sunday lane closures on Bochum Parkway and Meadowhead Roundabout
Lane closures around the roundabout will be in place over the next 2 Sundays. This is to enable us to install a drainage connection across Bochum Parkway and carry out alterations to the kerbs of the central reservation. The affected roads will remain open in all directions.
Closure of the pedestrian crossing adjacent to Meadowhead Roundabout.
The pedestrian crossing will remain closed. Pedestrians wishing to cross the road at this point are directed to the next traffic signal crossing opposite Dyche Lane. See below. Please advise your children walking to school that this crossing is closed and will remain closed until the completion of the works and to use the alternative crossing.
Closure of the western access to Norton Lane off Bochum Parkway.
This access will remain closed full time for the next few months. Vehicular access to Norton Lane can by made by using the eastern Norton Lane access off Bochum Parkway. We appreciate that this will cause some inconvenience to those living on Norton Lane.

Safety for children and the wider public

We acknowledge that construction sites can be attractive places for children.
Please be assured that once underway, the different areas of works will be securely fenced at all times to ensure the safety of the public. Deep excavations within our works, for drainage for example, will have further fencing erected around them.

Please be aware of slow moving plant and wagons making deliveries and accessing different areas of the site from the live carriageway.

Please be mindful of the speed limit of 40 mph when driving through the works.
