Welcome to newsletter number 13 providing you with information regarding the roadworks to Penny Pot Lane for Persimmon Homes.

Progress, the past few weeks

Tarmacking along Penny Pot Lane.

We have been working hard to along phases one and two of the road closure over the past few weeks and we are pleased to say that tarmacking along Penny Pot Lane is now complete. Work has also commenced on the construction of traffic islands and the installation of channel blocks along the road.

New traffic islands and channel blocks.

Surface water outfall drainage is continuing to progress well across Penny Pot Lane and into King Edwin Park despite the challenges posed by numerous services present.

The next two weeks

The road closure along Penny Pot Lane will be lifted today (Friday 4th September) but will be reinstated for one day on Wednesday 9th September as we undertake phase 3 of the works.

We will be reinstating the wearing course to the surface water outfall drainage on Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th September and then to the footpath along Penny Pot Lane week commencing 22nd September.

Phase 4 of the works will be undertaken using two-way traffic lights. We are hoping to commence and complete phase 4 of the works along Penny Pot Lane on Thursday 10th September.

There will be intermittent temporary traffic signals outside the road closure at the entrance to King Edwin Park via Penny Pot Lane for traffic entering and leaving the development.

Phase 1 of the road closure includes the stretch of road from King Edwin Park's site entrance to Young's Drive. Access to Young's Drive and Ethelburga is from the east of Penny Pot Lane, and access to King Edwin Park is from the west.

Phase 2 of the road closure encompasses the area from Jubilee Roundabout to King Edwin Park's site entrance. All access to and from Ethelburga will be from the west and access to King Edwin park will be from the east, with two-way control traffic lights in place at the site entrance. We anticipate these works will last approximately two days, and we commenced these works Friday 28th August.

Phase 3 of the road closure will lead from the corner of Penny Pot Lane up to Ethelburga and will last approximately one-two days. We are hoping to commence these works on Wednesday 9th September. Please note access to King Edwin Park, Young's Drive and Ethelburga will be from the west of Penny Pot Lane.

Phase 4 of the road closure stretches from the entrance of Ethelburga to the entrance of Young's Drive, both of which will be controlled using three-way lights. Access to and from Ethelburga will be from the east, and access to and from Young's Drive will be from the west.

Rest assured that pedestrian and cycle access through this area will remain open at all times.

We would like to politely remind everyone that the speed limit within the traffic scheme is 30mph, and kindly ask that members of the public refrain from moving the barriers to allow access through the road closure on evenings. This is causing significant problems for the scheme and could result in a serious incident.

A small number of cars passing our work area have been exceeding the speed limit. This is dangerous for our team on site and members of the public within the vicinity. Your compliance with the speed limit is greatly appreciated.
