Otley Road Newsletter 8

05 April 2019

Otley Road Roadworks. Newsletter 8. Update and planned night time road closures for week commencing Monday 8th April.

This newsletter is to provide you with an update on the road works and information regarding the planned night time road closures for next week.

These past few weeks we have been preparing for the final surfacing layer to be installed on Otley Road.
Due to the poor condition of the existing road this has meant some additional works have been necessary.

After the completion of the night time works, the traffic management will be removed from the road, allowing the road to be returned to 2 way traffic.

However, unfortunately, we will be returning later in the summer to carry out further works to install a wide footpath and street lighting from the Charles Church development, down along Otley Road towards Harrogate. We have been unable to carry out these works in this visit as we are waiting for the details of these works to be finalised.

NIGHT TIME ROAD CLOSURES BOOKED FOR 4 NIGHTS. 8TH, 9TH, 12TH AND 13TH APRIL

On week commencing Monday 8th we have 4 night time road closures arranged with Harrogate Council.

The final road surfacing layer is to be laid to the area of the new junction and also to the section of road down the hill towards Harrogate.

The closures are required due to the width of the surfacing machine and the space around it required to carry out the works on the existing narrow section of Otley Road.

The first 2 nights (Monday and Tuesday) will be spent filling in the road repair patches and laying down a 'regulating' tarmac layer to even out the existing undulating surface of the road. We also need to adjust the levels of any existing manhole covers in the road to match the final levels.
The third night (Friday) will see the surfacing gang returning to install the final surfacing layer.
During the fourth night (Saturday) we will be applying the new road markings

The road closures are booked from 7pm until 6am.

The agreed diversion route is via Beckwith Head Road, Howhill Quarry Road and Howhill Road.

Access to businesses and residences on the section of road that will be closed will be available from the Howhill Road end. This includes all new residents of the Charles Church development.
