Otley Road Roadworks. Newsletter 2. Week commencing Monday 15th October

This is the second newsletter, providing you with information regarding the road works on Otley Road for the new Charles Church Residential Development.

As described previously, the works are being carried out in 2 phases. From 1st October until 24th November, and then 3rd January until July 2019 with the break in the works for the Christmas period.

During the first 2 weeks the power connection has been made to the Taylor Wimpey development on the corner of the Beckwith Head Road junction.

The connection to the foul sewer has been made with the carriageway of the junction.

Opposite the Charles Church Development access we have excavated for the road widening which will provide room for the new filter lane into site, carefully exposing the BT duct in the process.

The next 2 weeks

During this week the 4 way temporary traffic signals at the Otley Road/Beckwith Head Road Junction will be removed, to be replaced by a single set of 2 way traffic signals on Otley Road. The 2 way lights will be in operation 24hrs per day for the next few weeks.

The electricity utility company, Power On Connections, will complete the final section of duct across Crag Lane.
Following this the foul sewer pipe and the electricity ducts will progress along Otley Road within the grass verge towards the Charles Church development. Installing the foul sewer pipe and the electricity ducts at the same time reduces the overall disruption period.
Pedestrian access will be maintained along Otley Road. Pedestrians may be diverted on to the road along a fenced off pathway but it will be clearly signposted.

At the site entrance we will be casting a concrete slab across the exposed BT duct and placing stone as the first layer in the widening of the carriageway. We will also be installing a pipe within the ditch at the foot of the hedge. Again, pedestrians access will be maintained at all times.

The traffic signals will be monitored during the day on week days to ensure that traffic does not build up too much in either direction.

We apologise in advance for the disruption that you will endure over the coming months. To contact your Community Liaison Officer please email me, Lucie Jones, at Otley.Road@howardcivileng.co.uk
