Welcome to your fourth newsletter providing you with information regarding the Hard Ings Road Improvement scheme in Keighley. Every fortnight these newsletters will provide you with an update on how the works are progressing and also anything we think you might find interesting to do with the scheme.
During these past 2 weeks we hope you have witnessed an increase in work on site. You will not have missed the 50T crane brought in to install the sheet piles around the Fibreline building to create the level area required for the road widening.
As described within the previous newsletter we have been using 2 methods of installation of the sheet piles. The percussive (banging, noisy) method within the allotment area is now complete and we are progressing with the quieter (but very much slower) method adjacent to the Fibreline building to protect the factory against vibration as we are piling very close to the building.
We expect the remaining piling works to be completed by the end of the next week.
The drainage pipe installation has continued at the Bradford Road Roundabout end of the scheme.
We have been removing the tree stumps and stripping topsoil from Beechcliffe Road Roundabout.
In other areas our street lighting contractor has been surveying the existing street lighting columns so we know exactly how each street light is powered which helps us to plan for the new street lighting, later on in the scheme. Another contractor has been laying a temporary water main bypass within the cricket club grounds. This is required as we need to construct a retaining wall in an area where an existing water main is located. Please be assured that there will be no loss of supply during the water main bypass works.
Temporary traffic signals will be in operation on Hard Ings Road on Sunday 30th June. Over the next few following Sundays we will be installing several ducts right across Hard Ings Road which are required for future traffic signal and street lighting work as well as diversions of existing Openreach (BT) cables and power cables. Traffic signals will be in operation each Sunday to enable us to carry out the duct crossings in 2 halves to enable us to keep the road open during these works.
Howard Civil Engineering is taking part in the Dragon Boat Race on Sunday 23rd June in Saltaire. 20 of us will be competing against 44 other teams. We along, with 11 other teams, are raising money for the Bradford Hospitals Charity and so far the Howard boat has raised over £2,200! It should be a great day for the charity and for us!! You can find out more about the festival here

Do you think we are a Considerate Constructor? We have registered this site with the Considerate Constructor's Scheme. The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a non-profit making, independent organisation founded in 1997 by the construction industry to improve its image. We will inspected by them to ensure we are doing what we can to create a positive image of our industry and not causing undue disruption to all those who live and work near the scheme.
There are several ways you can contact the site team for inquiries, concerns or comments.
