Hard Ings Road Improvement Scheme

Hard Ings Newsletter No 31

17 July 2020

Newsletter No 31. Week commencing Monday 20th July. Weeks 62 - 63. (First published Friday 17th July)

Welcome to newsletter number 31 providing you with information regarding the Hard Ings Road Improvement scheme in Keighley.

Progress, the past 2 weeks

Our efforts and hard work over the past two weeks have proved successful. The planned road surfacing visit, which was split over days and nights, went extremely well and was completed successfully. Those who have recently seen the new surfacing will agree it offers a greater indication of how Hard Ings Road will look upon completion - how exciting!

Following the surfacing works, Howard Civil Engineering were able to implement traffic management changes on the night of 11th July to allow us to work safely on the southern flank of the scheme. The new traffic management sees a contraflow system running along the newly-widened northern flank of the scheme, with temporary road markings also in place. This new system creates a safe working zones for our operatives, allows for safe pedestrian management to be achieved, and safely maintains two-way traffic along Hard Ings Road.

The next 2 weeks

We have already commenced the site clearance and excavation works on the southern flank and will continue to do this over the following days. These works will be closely followed by the installation of new kerbs, new kerb drainage, drainage connections and ducting for street lighting, urban traffic control and Northern Powergrid. These works will progress from the eastern end of the scheme towards the west before we undertake works to the central islands.

Affected bus routes on Lawkholme Lane

The following diversions remain in place by the bus companies previously using the now closed Lawkholme Lane junction.
