Hard Ings Road Improvement Scheme

Hard Ings Newsletter No 12

11 October 2019

Newsletter No 12. Week commencing Monday 14th October. Weeks 24 and 25.

(First published Friday 11th October)

Welcome to your twelfth newsletter providing you with information regarding the Hard Ings Road Improvement scheme in Keighley.
This newsletter now has over 900 subscribers making it easily our most read newsletter proving that this section of road is so important to so many of your journeys.

We are at a point where things seem to be progressing very slowly. We are unable to push on until both the Gas and Water diversions in Hard Ings Road are complete. The old Gas and Water Mains are located within the new carriageway lane and we need these diverted out of the way in order for us to proceed with the new carriageway construction.

The Gas diversion works should be finished in 2 to 3 weeks. Yorkshire Water have been carrying out some preliminary bypass works on Lawkholme Lane, Eric Street and Byrl Street, which is required before they commence on the main Hard Ings Road diversion.

We have been concentrating our efforts at Fibreline. The mix of different types of retaining walls for the provision of Fibreline's new parking area, and stairs and accessible ramps for their employees, has been quite complex to construct.

Elsewhere we have lifted the fill level against the new cricket club wall into which the Gas diversion is taking place.
At Beechcliffe Roundabout we have installed some duct crossings across the carriageway along with some traffic signal chambers.

Work for the next 2 weeks

The masons will continue with their work to the stone walls in the Fibreline area whilst we carry on with the car park and footpath works.
The setts will continue around Beechcliffe Roundabout.
We'll be commencing the alterations to the head of the central reservation adjacent to Beechcliffe Roundabout.
The Gas Main diversion work will near its completion.
No Sunday work is planned for the next 2 weeks.

Planned lane closures on A629 still booked for Monday 4th November.

The postponed lane closures on the A629 approach and exit to and from Beechcliffe Roundabout will be put in place in the early hours of Monday 4th November morning and remain in place for many months.
The A629 lane closures will cause traffic disruption in the area, especially at peak times.
We would advise you to take alternative routes during this time, if possible, and also allow extra time for your journeys, both at peak times and throughout the day.
Please bear with us during this period of increased traffic disruption, necessary for the resulting long term improvements to your road network.

Affected bus routes on Lawkholme Lane

The following diversions remain in place by the bus companies previously using the now closed Lawkholme Lane junction.

Hard Ings Road/Lawkholme Lane, Keighley - P23 Steeton Primary

Route P23 for Steeton Village Primary School will have an amended route. There will be no pick up on Lawkholme Lane.
AM: the bus will start at the bus stop on Skipton Road at East Avenue (08:22) then along Skipton Road to Devonshire Street and the usual route thereafter. Therefore the bus will not operate along Lawkholme Lane.
PM: as per the usual route from the school as far as the roundabout at Skipton Road/Hard Ings then continue along Skipton Road (16:10 at East Avenue) toward Devonshire Street and the usual route thereafter.
Those passengers who usually board or alight at the stops at the top of Lawkholme Lane near Hard Ings are advised to use the bus stop on Skipton Road at East Avenue.
This amendment will continue for the duration of the works at Hard Ings or until such time the turn restriction is lifted.
