Greengates Junction

Greengates Junction Newsletter No 20

29 April 2021

Newsletter No 20. Week Commencing Monday 3rd May. First published Friday 30th April 2021.

This newsletter is to provide you with an update on the Greengates Junction Improvement works.
Please note traffic management measures remain in place at Greengates junction to enable us to work on all four arms of the junction. Please plan your journey accordingly if you are passing through the junction.

Additionally, we are aware that a small number of road users are making dangerous manoeuvres around the traffic management measures which jeopardise the safety of others. Should you witness any dangerous or illegal manoeuvres, please report these directly to West Yorkshire Police.

**As the COVID-19 restrictions in place across the country gradually ease, we are expecting to see an increase in the number of vehicles passing through the junction. We kindly ask road users and pedestrians to continue practicing social distancing around the site and being considerate of other drivers when passing the temporary traffic management measures.**

Howard Civil Engineering and Bradford Council would like to thank those who are driving safely through the junction. Your continued patience and understanding as we undertake improvement works are greatly appreciated.

Progress, the past two weeks

In the P-loop area, work to form the new footpaths has continued and there is a clear outline of where the path alongside Harrogate Road, opposite Aldi's Italian, will sit.

Along Harrogate Road, opposite Greengates Primary School, road widening operations have advanced as we continue the realignment of the boundary wall outside Greengates House, which will facilitate the works for service diversions in this area.

We have continued work to install ducting, divert services, and install and divert high and low voltage cables leading from Asda to KFC.

Outside New Line Retail Park, gas main diversion works and road widening operations have also progressed. We have continued to form the additional parking spaces and the new bin store in the place of the demolished end unit at New Line Retail Park.

We have continued installing ducting in the road crossings, which will facilitate the ongoing service diversions, and have also investigated and identified unknown utility apparatus.

The next two weeks

Over the next two weeks, we are looking forward to completing phase one of the high and low voltage cable diversions. We are also hoping to complete the gas diversion outside New Line Retail Park which will enable us to install new drainage and advance road widening operations in this area.

We will install new lighting columns around the junction before removing the existing columns and installing a rainwater attenuation system in the southern area of New Line east, next to the P-loop. We will also continue installing ducting in the road crossings which will enable us to progress with ongoing service diversions.

Traffic Management

Please note current traffic management measures along Harrogate Road have been relocated closer to the arm of the junction to close off the existing Farmfoods entrance while we undertake removal works on this corner. Roads have been reduced to two lanes in all directions to enable us to progress with ongoing junction widening works. We anticipate that these traffic management measures will be in place for the foreseeable future. Please allow extra time for travel when passing through the junction.

Howard Civil Engineering have worked alongside Bradford Council to ascertain the most efficient traffic management measures to enable us to complete the junction improvement works with the highest consideration for safety of our operatives, road users and pedestrians. We apologise in advance for any disruption and delays which you may encounter as a result of these works and thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
