Germany Beck Newsletter 47

21 March 2018

Weeks 92 & 93 commencing Monday 19th March 2018

This is the 47th edition of the newsletter that keeps you up to date with the progress of the Germany Beck junction works on the A19 in Fulford.

Last week we suffered a delay to sheet piling works to the west side of the A19. Several cables were found on the proposed pile line and we had to wait until Northern Power Grid were able to come out to site to confirm they were all dead.

The anticipated 24hr temporary traffic signals were changed back to off peak signals as soon as we became aware of the delay.

Piling will recommence Wednesday 21st of March. 24hr temporary traffic signals will be in operation from Wednesday 21st until Thursday 29th March although they will be removed for the weekend.

The traffic signals location have been set by CYC. We are unable to move them from these positions. We have received many suggestions to locate the northern most traffic signal to the north of Fordlands Road. We have been advised by CYC that we are not to do this and to keep the signalised section as short as possible to speed up traffic pasing through the area.
We appreciate that some vehicles were having difficulties leaving and gaining access to Fordlands Road.
When ever possible our traffic signal operators will be in attendance to ensure ease of access into and out of Fordlands Road.

During the next 2 weeks we will be installing the sheet piled wall to the west of the A19.

Once the piling rig has moved off Landings Lane, we will be commencing the construction of the new section of Landings Lane.

Pedestrians will continue to use the new eastern footpath while the western footpath remains closed until the end of the works.

Elsewhere on site we are carrying out the diversion of a deep sewer in the location of our old compound.
Surplus earthworks material is being removed from site with wagons using the new junction off the A19.

24HR TEMPORARY TRAFFIC SIGNALS ON A19

'24hr' 2 way traffic signals A19 - 21st March until 29th March (no lights over the weekend).
Safe and clear access on the eastern footpath will be maintained for pedestrians at all times.

New A19 footpath route

Safety for children and the wider public.

Please be assured that the different areas of works will be securely fenced at all times to ensure the safety of the public.
We will be receiving deliveries to site this week. Each delivery will be guided into site by one of our employees once traffic and pedestrians are clear from the site entrance. Please be patient if you are held up for a short time whilst these manoeuvres take place.
Pedestrians will be given right of way along the footpaths of Fordlands Road but please be aware of deliveries using the entrances to site off Fordlands Road on occasion.
