Gateway 36 Newsletter No 11

28 May 2021

Gateway 36 Newsletter No 11 Week commencing Monday 31st May. First published Friday 28th May.

Welcome to the Gateway 36 e-newsletter. Each fortnight, these e-newsletters will provide you with updates on progress, traffic management and any potential disruption surrounding the Gateway 36 development in Rockingham. Please note these works will be ongoing until Summer 2021.

Progress, the past two weeks

Along Dearne Valley Parkway to the west, we have continued to form the new S278 roundabout which will facilitate entry to Phase 3 of the Gateway 36 scheme. Traffic management measures to close lanes remain in place in this area.

We have commenced the removal of the existing concrete drainage channels and Armco barriers to enable the formation of the roundabout, and we are pleased to say that surface water drainage is now fully installed.

Major earthworks have continued on the main development of site.

We are also pleased to say that, following an assessment from the Considerate Constructors' Scheme earlier this month, Gateway 36 is operating at a level above compliance with the recommended regulations!

The next two weeks

This new traffic management layout will be in place long-term whilst work to construct the new roundabout is ongoing.

Should you experience or witness an out-of-hours emergency regarding the traffic management measures in place, please call RTS on 01724 848 246.

Over the next two weeks, work to form the new S278 roundabout will continue on both sides of Dearne Valley Parkway as we prepare the new carriageway for surfacing. Works will include the placement of stone and ducting for incoming service utilities and diversions. Following these works, kerbs and tarmac will be laid, and new street lighting and signage will be erected.

On the main development site, earthworks will continue.

All works are scheduled to be complete for summer 2021.
