In June 2019, Howard Civil Engineering were awarded the road and sewers and plotworks package at Watling Grange, a landmark new housing development on Skipton Road, Harrogate, for our new client United Living.
United Living are delivering this £48m contract for residential developers Home Group.
We expect to be on site for approximately 2.5 years to deliver the roads and sewers and plotworks for the 350 homes on this highly sought-after development.
The homes and streetscapes on offer will be very different from anything else available in Harrogate, with bespoke designs and styles to make the most of the site’s topography and views.
Stepped foundations and low retaining structures are incorporated throughout the design to manage this gently sloping site and make the most of the views.
40% of the houses are designated affordable homes for rent and shared ownership.
A community park at the centre of the scheme is planned to bring residents together and provide a large pleasant green area to satisfy the requirements for open space. Involving local allotment associations, an ecologist, bird watching and other groups, Home Group have developed creative solutions to protect wildlife and build a sustainable environment, including preservation of the existing quarry face.
The development is expected to be wholly complete May 2024.
