Due to the merger of Leeds Grammar School with Leeds Girls High it was decided to significantly extend the existing Leeds Grammar School site in Alwoodley to facilitate both boys and girls. This entailed a £26 million development of the campus which was awarded to HBG Construction (now BAM) through a two-stage tender process.
As part of the project, Howard Civil Engineering were invited to tender the significant revamping and extension to campus infrastructure. Through our sector knowledge, were able to demonstrate professionalism in working within a live school environment while providing innovative value engineering solutions. The works included soil strip, earthworks, traffic management, construction of all new highways & car parks including macadam, construction of all RC structures including two underpasses and retaining walls, sports pitches including hockey, tennis, football & rugby to sport England standards, extensive paths and feature paving, comprehensive drainage network including large diameter storage tanks, petrol interceptors and many kilometres of ducting and trenching to facilitate services.
