Bader Academy

Client: Willmott Dixon

Value: £1m
Location: Doncaster
Contract Period: 39 weeks
Contract Type: Groundworks

Background

In August 2019, Howard Civil Engineering were awarded the groundworks package at the new SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) School to be built in Edenthorpe, Doncaster.

Bader Academy will encompass almost 34,000 sq ft and provide provision for 100 pupils between the ages of 5-19 along with 50 members of staff.

Supporting facilities will include a sports pitch, multi-use games area and specialist teaching facilities. The building will also include user-specific provisions such as sensory rooms, soft play and calm rooms.

The location of this development poses a high risk of flooding; however, we are confident we can deliver our groundworks package to the highest standard despite the environmental risks. This is our fourth project for Willmott Dixon in Yorkshire following successful projects such as University Centre Rotherham and The Futurist, Scarborough.

Scope

  • Supporting Willmott Dixon through the tender process in exploring numerous value engineering solutions
  • Developing a robust build programme
  • Archaeological investigation in advance of the main works
